12 Resolutions for 2012

Don't know why I am making these. Because I am really bad at breaking them. I mean REALLY bad. Hopefully by declaring these to the whole world  all of you out there reading my blog, maybe, just maybe I will complete a few of them this year. Here's to hoping.

My 2011 resolution was to make a blog. Which I did. Buuuttt... I haven't really kept up with it like I wanted. Now if I was a supermom I would have blogged everyday in between homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, facebooking, DIY projects, breaking up fights, & every other little thing life threw at us this year. I know plenty of other bloggers who post very consistently, and I am sure their lives get just as hectic at times. So no excuses!

That being said, my first goal is:

1. Blog More!

I am going all out. Even getting a new laptop so I don't have the excuse that I am too tired to go to the computer desk & blog on the desktop. I can lounge comfortably & blog away in bed. And since I love being organized & making lists I started a blogging notebook. The perfect place to jot down all the ideas & things I want to post about before I forget.

2. Make Another Bow Video

After over 50,000 views on YouTube, plus tons of emails & comments., I am determined to get you some more tutorials! First up will be how to embellish the boutique bow.

3. Set A Better Example For My Children & Teach
Them To Love The Lord More With Each Passing Day

My number #1 goal in life is to raise my children to know Jesus & love him with all their hearts. No better way to teach them then by example. I am really starting to be aware of my every action, and exactly how it affects my children. It's surreal to think that every single thing they are absorbing right now is going to mold them into the person they will be. Watching them everyday displaying the morals we want them to have is the best reward!

4. Redecorate Our Living Room

New couches, rug, chair, bookcase, curtains, etc. And we are off to a great start! As I write this I am on my living room floor because we have sold everything 2 nights ago & have 8 more days until our life altering (yes, I did just say that) Ikea trip. Did I mention we have 5 people living here & no couches? January 8th could not come soon enough.

Here's a sneak peek at the before. Right before our furniture was taken away. We have a blank slate and a fresh coat of grey paint (it was brown with dark chocolate trim). Note, the grey rectangle behind the coat is a HUGE mirror that we have turned around hiding behind the couch. Didn't even know it was there. Did ya? ;) Debating on using it in the living room or dining room.

5. Build A New Dining Table
And when I say build, I mean Steve build a new dining table. I'm thinking a white farmhouse table with a wide plank top, and maybe one side bench seating? We'll see what happens when it's built. No telling how I'll finally want it seeing as my self diagnosed ADD brain changes so much.

6. Go To A Homeschool Conference

This has to be one of the things I am looking forward to the most. Meeting & connecting with more families like us. I think the kids are going to love it! We are planning on attending one in April in Texas, & one near us in Orlando this May.

7. Connect With Other Bloggers Near Me

I love reading blogs and day dreaming about all the fun DIY projects I want to create. But I would love to have some friends near by who share my same passion for blogging & DIY. Don't get me wrong. I have some really AWESOME friends. I mean friends who will answer your phone calls at 2am and stay on the phone with you all night when your having a hard time. Even though they have to get up with 2 toddlers in the morning. Thanks again Carole! But I don't want to scare them away by talking about which color grey to paint my house for 6 hours. By the way, I chose Benjamin Moore Pewter.

8. Make Our Bedroom A Sanctuary

I'll let you in on a little secret that only my closest friends know. My bedroom is the storage unit of the house. Not really. But close. If I can't find a spot for an item in the house, it goes in my room. I'd rather store it in my room (since it's not decorated yet), then clutter up some other already organized decorated spot. Which doesn't make for a very relaxing space. Our bedroom is our room, craft room, computer room, & place for everything we can't find a spot for. Including my hubby's guns, guitars, and amps. Thank God for a walk in closet. Lucky for me, my sweet hubby is redoing our room for my birthday (February 12). I'm getting giddy over here just thinking about it. If he saw my to do list before he agreed to this project though, he might have backed out.

9. Visit The Mountains Again In The Fall

We went on our honeymoon to Gatlinburg, TN. We've brought the kids back to see snow, but this time we want them to experience the changing of the leaves. Coming from Florida my kids are used to green all year including winter. Lately they have been talking a lot about fall and leaves. If they find one dead leaf on the ground they go crazy. You would think they just won a $1000 shopping spree to Toysrus.

10. Finally Redo The Kitchen

I've mentioned it before, we want to redo everything. Paint the cabinets white, add molding, new counters & flooring. Throw in some cute DIY touches and I will be in heaven. So why are we just painting the cabinets instead of replacing them? Number 11 will answer your question.

11. Sell Our House (or at least get it on the market)

Crazy, right? I know your probably wondering "What in the world is she thinking? Put in all that work just to sell?". Well here's our logic. We NEED more room. A homeschool room, craft space, and more bedrooms. We don't plan on spending a ton of money on projects. We just want to spruce it up a bit. That way even if we don't sell for a while because of this market, we can enjoy living in a space that we love and feels like ours. We plan on putting it on the market in November.

12. It's A Secret!

I'll spill the beans on it soon!

Whatever made me decide on making 12 resolutions in one year when I can't even keep one a year. I don't know. Maybe I have a better chance. Instead of just failing completely, maybe I can fail only halfway? No matter the reason I hope you will remind me if you see me not keeping up with resolutions. Emails, comments, Facebook... Whatever you have to do! So what are your New Years Resolutions this year?

P.S. This is how you spend New Years Eve when you have kids & no couches. Snacks, tablets- kids & daddy (why is it that everyone else in the house has a tablet but me?), with pillows & blankets on the floor!

  1. Hi, I enjoyed reading all of the above.
I am really looking forward to your next Bow Video. I learned so much from your bow video, you are very good at showing step X step directions for your bows, I hope to learn how to make different styles. You have alot going on for 2012. As I was reading, when I read your number 3 my heart was lifted up. Its so important to have Jesus in our lives and to teach our children about Him, one of the ways is by example, and that would be by the way we live, conducting ourselves each day. There are so many great children's books about Jesus, and the different stories in the Bible.
    Have a great New year

  2. Thank you Judy! Glad other people feel the same way I do!
