Surprise! And a living room update...

Surprise! Today I am being featured over at Organized SAHM! Sharing a reversible Fall/Halloween Wreath. So go check it out and tell me what you think! Tara is an awesome blogger and such an inspiration to me.

If you are coming from Organized SAHM, thanks so much for visiting! I love connecting with others so feel free to join the fun!

Today I wanted to just give a quick update on the living room. When I think of how a supermom would decorate, I picture them redecorating a entire room in a few weeks. Everything in it's perfect spot. Flawless pictures like the millions you see on Pinterest.

I on the other hand, take weeks, months, and even years to decorate. Everything is constantly evolving. And that's the way I like it. I love change. I thrive on moving things around and getting a whole new feeling.

With that said, only a few things changed in the living room, but I feel like it's worth it.

First we decided to take the chaise ottoman off our couch. Stretching out on the chaise was a favorite past time of mine. But it made the room feel so small. Once we removed it, it felt like a totally different room. You might notice we switched out the pillows too. I just sewed some fall pillow covers.

Next I used the chest I found at a yard sale for $10, as a coffee table. I want to refinish it soon, but I'm still debating on a color. Any ideas??

Probably the biggest change you'll notice is we took out the white bookcase and put in DIY shelves. We decided to use the bookcase in our workroom (it's a laundry room/pantry/catch all). Although I love these shelves, I feel like they'll continue to look a little out of place until I find the perfect accent table to go under them. I really want a card catalog, so I am scouring craigslist in hopes of a great find.

The shelves are my current favorite part of the living room. They are made from just one board that Steve cut in half, stained, and mounted. I can't take any credit for them except styling them. The wood and oil rubbed bronze brackets together make me smile every time I see them.

Currently I have 2 chairs and 2 kid rocking chairs sitting in the living room. The adult chairs will be moved out to my new patio soon. Still debating what I want to put in their place. A church pew or bench maybe?

My one splurge was this awesome accent cabinet from Target. When I went in to buy it, it was on sale, which made purchasing it a no brainer. I have been looking for a table for this spot forever. It had to be the right height and width. So that I could fit a key rack and decorations above it.

If you know me, you know my house has lots of aqua, yellow, grey, and white. I'm trying to incorporate more colors. With pops of red, and now this awesome teal color. I just scored a cable knit throw blanket from Target on clearance in the same color too.

I also moved 2 of our 4 school desks in the living room next to the television. The other 2 are housing at our inlaws, waiting until we have a homeschool room to fit them all. Our next project is going to be the board and batten on the wall behind the desks and television. Then we are going to redo the tv cabinet .

And yes, our cat is playing "Where's Waldo?". She did not want to move out of the way during pictures.

So all in all, nothing major in here. Just a few little updates that make me happy. And that's what it's all about. Doing what makes you happy. Not keeping up with the supermoms.

Do you have any quick updates that you like to do? Or any quick ideas that you think I can incorporate??

xoxo - Jennifer
